Celtic Cross of the Tree of Life necklace

    £1,260.00 £1,100.00

This large and dark pendant is the combination of two common Celtic symbols: the Celtic Cross and the Tree of Life.

The Celtic Cross derives from the sun-worshipping symbol of an even-armed cross inside a circle. This even-armed cross within the circle has been ascribed many meanings, one of which includes the meeting places of the divine energy, of self, nature, wisdom and divinity. A person needs to have knowledge of all four in order to be whole and to shine and here comes the circle and the sun. St Patrick is said to have taken this ancient symbol and extended one of the lengths to form a melding of the Christian Cross and the sun symbol, and thus the birth of the Celtic Cross.

The Tree of Life is a symbol of balance, harmony and rebirth. In people’s lives it represents how a person grows but at the same time, they remain attached to their roots. The branches go upwards and extend but some of them stay forever connected with the roots.

On this pendant, the front branches along with the tree trunk form the shape of a cross, while the branches at the back connect with the roots creating a circle. Out of the four stones, only one is red, as a clear reference to the story of Eve’s apple.
